CPA-MNP General FAQ

1. What is Mobile Number Portability (MNP)?
Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is the ability for users to switch to a new mobile service provider while retaining their existing mobile number.

2. How does MNP benefit me?
The main benefit of MNP is freedom of choice and the competition that it generates. Customers are free to choose a new mobile service provider without having to change to a new number. This means customers can avoid the inconvenience of having to notify friends and associates that their number has been changed.

3. What are the basic rules for MNP-CPA?

MNP involves porting of mobile numbers only.
After a DiGi customer has ported out, he/she needs to re-subscribe to their services [CPA services (3 series shortcode)]. This means the customer will not be able to enjoy DiGi services (2000) anymore.
  a. Ported in customer will be DiGi's new customer.
b. Ported out customer will no longer be a DiGi customer.

4. What is Central Clearing House (CCH)?

a. Centre Clearing House (CCH) is a centralised database which facilitates the exchange of information between Mobile Service Providers for porting transactions and update routing information to all Mobile Service Providers.
b. Central Clearing House (CCH) checks the latest status of a subscriber before pushing any mobile terminating (MT) to the subscriber.
c. For more information & inquiry, please contact SKMM (website: http://www.skmm.gov.my).

5. How does CP determine where to send mobile terminating (MT) without mobile originating (MO) since number prefixes no longer determine the specific mobile service provider?
CP to connect to Central Clearing House (CCH) which is managed by Talian Gerak Alih Sdn Bhd (TGA) to query on the routing number (RN).

6. What is Routing Number (RN)?
