What is CPA Premium SMS?
CPA Premium SMS enables content providers to send mobile content to DiGi's subscribers via SMS and subsequently charge the subscriber for using the service. Popular services using this technology include distribution of ring tones and logos, quizzes and contests, as well as useful information-on-demand services.
  • CPA enables content provider to get paid by DiGi's subscribers when using their services.
  • CPA opens up for the content provider to build their own market brand within our business area.
Push and Pull Services
The types of CPA Premium SMS services can be divided into two categories:
  • Pull services: The user sends a mobile originated message (MO) to the short-code of the content provider and subsequently receives the mobile terminated message (MT) that contains the content
  • Push services: The user sends an MO to request for content to be sent by the content provider on a regular basis or at a special time or event. The content provider then "pushes" the messages (MT) to the subscriber as specified in the MO.
Premium-rated SMS
For both the push and pull categories, the MT is priced at a premium rate (set by the content provider), and it is the MT-revenue that is shared between the content provider and DiGi. Please look at the Rates and Charges section for more information on the applicable charges, rate categories and revenue share values. Short-codes
To get access to the content provider services, the DiGi subscriber will need to send the MO to the content provider's 5-digit short-code (3xxxx). Each content provider can have one or several 5-digit short-codes. DiGi will assign a short-code (36xxx) to the content provider that can be used across other mobile operators in Malaysia. Likewise, short-codes assigned by other mobile operators can be used with DiGi as well. CPA SMS business opportunity in brief

So you want that Premium SMS Service?
Services provided by 3rd Party companies whom we also refer to as external Content Providers (CPs) lets you download data content, information, graphics, ringtones, wallpapers, Java games or participate in voting, contests, etc for a stipulated price.

Have you read the advertisement properly?
Advertisements can be pretty attractive and catchy but if you DO choose to download any contents from an advertisement, check the price and read the terms & conditions tagged to it as you will be bound to it.

Did you register for Membership / Subscription service?
Normally if you had typed either "REG" or "REGISTER" or "ON" or "DAFTAR" in front of the service name or service code and send to the relevant short codes you have registered for a subscription-based service.

Example:

You should have received a confirmation message upon registration as example below:

Free msg. Successful Registration. No subscriptn fee. Price: RM0.50/SMS. 3SMS/week. Renewal 22/08/06. To cancel, send STOP to 3xxxx.   This msg <RM5.00>. Successful registration. Fee: <RM5.00/week>. Price: <RM0.50-10.00/download>. Renewal <dd/mm/yy>. To cancel, send STOP to <3xxxx>.
Notes:
Payments for mobile content downloads or mobile services subscription will be deducted directly from prepaid credit or billed to postpaid users' mobile phone accounts.

Do these things before you send out your request:
  1. Read and understand the terms and conditions attached with the advertisements.
  2. If the info available is insufficient, you can request additional info from the content provider(s).
  3. Take note of the price stipulated before subscribing for any Premium SMS service.
Where an advertisement shouts about a Free Trial, be careful, because at the end of the trial your subscription for a free trial may be automatically converted to a paid subscription. If you feel doubtful about it, you can get more info from your service provider.
  4. Parents must always be aware of their children's phone usage.
After you have sent out your request - read all the SMS you receive:
  1. Read ALL SMS messages received, no matter how many you get.
    • Be selective in responding/replying to the SMS messages.
    • Be diligent in reading SMSes that arrives in your inbox, because if a SMS comes with a charge, the customer is already charged when the message arrives in the customer's mobile phone inbox. This is regardless on whether the customer reads the message. Therefore the key is to read all messages.
    • Be selective in responding or clicking on any WAP links because when you may unwarily incur a charge that you do not wish.
  2. Where a charge says "RMx.xx per message received" be very careful, because it may result in multiple charges before you have a chance to stop the service.
  3. Where it is a subscription to a service which you might expect to receive 1 SMS per day (Eg horoscope, feng shui services) be careful when you see "RMx.xx per message" as opposed to "RMx.xx per day" because you may get anything up to 5 SMSes per day for the service that you  have subscribed to.
Don't want anymore of these contents to be sent to your phone?
