LEAP

Leap is a DiGi Managing Mindset programme aimed at inspiring mindset change in undergrads by introducing them to DiGi's daring, different and dynamic attitude. The idea is to prepare them for the working world by provoking them to think differently, be more open and competitive to meet future challenges.

In 2008, LEAP as part of DiGi's industry linkage initiative for undergraduate students at UiTM, selected 55 students for the first intake. These students came from various faculties at the university including Engineering, Accountancy, Management and IT. The first Leap programme kicked off with the Leap Breakaway whereby the students got a solid dose of DiGi's difference over three (3) days at a camp site set in jungle terrain in Hulu Langat.

The Breakaway was aimed at shattering any pre-conceived ideas they may have held about what they could expect to learn from DiGi and how the learning would be delivered. Any thoughts of having a laidback, chilled out 3 days were quickly put to rest as they were taken through a series of rigorous physical and mental challenges.

They were introduced to the new and unfamiliar at every point of the programme to stir them out of their comfort zones whether it was the activities they had to do, the meals they had and even their accommodation - they stayed in tents, albeit nice air-conditioned ones.

To their credit, the students showed great resilience and embraced all parts of the programme with open minds and much enthusiasm. Their comments at the reflection session to wrap up the 3 days showed that they got what DiGi was about - a company that does it differently, unexpectedly and excitingly. Following this, the students had monthly sessions at D'House which was held during their 1st semester in 2009.

We are currently in the second phase of LEAP 2009 which will see the engagement of 66 students from UiTM. Our first LEAP session will kicked off in August.
