DiGi welcomes feedback from our employees for continuous improvement. We conduct independent InternaI Value Creation (IVC) surveys annually to gauge employee satisfaction and to actively obtain feedback for continuous improvement of the organisation. We also conduct focus groups and townhall meetings to continuously maintain open channels of communication between our management and our employees.
In 2008, we added additional surveys focusing on Corporate Responsibility, Corporate Values and Customer Engagement
Open Mind, Open Hearts
Launched in November 2007, this programme focused on looking at the physically challenged community as an alternative source of talent. It fulfills DiGi's CR philosophy to create a work environment that inspires and stimulates its employees to achieve their best potential. This includes providing equal career and growth opportunities to those with special needs.
•
Advice was sought from the disabled community and relevant NGOs to ensure our disabled employees are integrated into DiGi's workforce smoothly.
•
The disabled employees were accorded the same employment package as any regular staff at the DiGi Customer Contact Centre.
•
Sensitivity training for the supervisors was arranged.
•
Volunteer staff was invited to use wheelchairs for a day during office hours to gain their fellow employees' perspective and share their experiences online.
•
Though DiGi's office is already disabled-friendly, minor structural improvements were made to the work area of the disabled staff for better convenience and access.
•
A Conference on Disabilities was held on 14 Nov 2007 to help employees gain a better perspective on the challenges faced by the disabled community and to bring corporate companies and NGOs together to discuss employment opportunities for the disabled.
Our efforts culminated in DiGi's headquarters, D'House being recognised by the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development under the disabled-friendly office complex category at the 2007 Disabled-friendly Building Recognition Awards ceremony.
You can read more about this recognition from this article published in Challenges, the first lifestyle magazine for the disabled community.
"Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. The working environment is comfortable and the facilities are accessible, especially for me being a wheel-chair user. I hope to be able to work in a job that I love and be able to maximize my potential."
