DiGi does its bit for Merdeka joy Gives away 50 cars, 50 bikes
SHAH ALAM, 17 August 2007: For 100 DiGi customers, the Merdeka celebrations brought an added joy of driving away a brand new car or motorcycle each.
They are the lucky winners of the DiGi's "50/50 Giveaway" campaign to strengthen Malaysians' pride for their country by encouraging them to get to know Malaysia better.
DiGi also rewarded its Prepaid customers for their loyalty and support with the opportunity to win 50 Perodua Viva 1.0 EZi cars and 50 MZ Mantizz 125S motorcycles.
DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") Chief Executive Officer Morten Lundal said, "DiGi is delighted to engage the community in celebrating and appreciating Malaysia's 50 years of nationhood.
"The 50 th Merdeka offers an exciting opportunity to celebrate this happy occasion with as many of our customers as possible throughout the country."
In the campaign that ran over 50 consecutive days from 12 May, every 5050 th customer for the day who reloaded RM50 and above got the chance to win a car and those who reloaded between RM30 and RM49.95 had the opportunity to take home a motorcycle.
A sea of yellow cars and motorcycles were parked in a special formation to create the number 50, symbolising 50 years of nationhood.
DiGi Yellow Coverage Fellows greeted the winners as they were entertained by performances featuring musicians and fire dancers. They were also treated to a fireworks display.
The prize presentation was held this evening to add to the festivities of the national-level launch of the 50th Merdeka celebrations in Melaka.
Lundal said, "It's wonderful to see so many happy faces at D' House. Looking at them, we see a mini-Malaysia with people celebrating together the spirit of Malaysia and sharing the joy of Merdeka."
Today's prize presentation signalled the start of a series of DiGi Merdeka-related events. Some are ongoing activities which are timed to add excitement to the month-long Merdeka celebrations.
