- When viewing apps with long pages, tap the status bar on top to return to the top of the app.
- The iPod app is the only application that can run in background while you continue to do something else. Double clicking the home button opens up iPod controls on top of your current app.
- In Safari, there is a direct key for ‘.com’ on the virtual keyboard. Holding that key down opens up other options like ‘.org’, ‘.edu’ , ‘.net’ etc. You need to slide your finger to the option you want to select without lifting your finger
- To take a screenshot, press the Home & Power buttons together. The image is saved in Camera Roll under Photos.
- Double tapping on the shift key enables caps lock. It turns blue when caps lock is on. This setting needs to be enabled by going to Settings>Keyboard> Enable Caps Lock > ON.
- The iPhone 3GS allows you to view the percentage of your battery life in the status bar. This can be enabled in Settings>Usage.
- You can change the double-tap behaviour of the Home Button. Go to Settings -> General -> Home to choose your preferred function.
- The camera on the iPhone 3GS has the ability to auto-focus! Tap on the screen to focus on a specific area. You will see a blue box in the focus area.
- If you choose “Email Photo” by tapping and holding on to a photo, the iPhone will automatically resize the photo to a smaller version that’s best for email. If you want to keep the full quality / resolution of the photo, tap and hold on the thumbnail of the photo, select copy. Open the Mail program, create a new email, then tap and hold in the body of the email to paste.
- The camera will take a photo once you release the camera button (not when you press it). To take self portraits, tap and hold the camera button on the screen, and release once you are ready.
