Category Management Specialist - Commercial & Indirect (12-months Contract)

You will lead and manage the end to end category management in Digi (Malaysia), mainly device (marketing) and indirect category, from beginning of the sourcing process (opportunity assessment), recommending and executing the sourcing strategy, negotiation and inclusive of handling pre and post contract management.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Create and develop a long term plan and strategy for a sourcing category for the cluster/local level where to:- Attend the cluster or local STECO or any strategic/management meeting for the particular category ; - Interface with Telenor Procurement Company
  • Lead and develop negotiation and sourcing strategy for category management, primarily devices, sales & marketing and services vendors for new or existing requirements.
  • Overall vendor relationship/performance management for category managed
  • Early stakeholder engagement and collaboration and take lead stakeholder management from sourcing perspective including alignment of sourcing strategies for stakeholder buy in and implementation
  • Lead the execution of the strategic sourcing from set-up of project, conduct of RFP/RFQ, conducting of price benchmarks, develop negotiation strategy, lead negotiations until closure of contract in order to execute a structured sourcing process in accordance to the Digi Sourcing Process and SOPP;
  • Ownership of pricing and commercial terms; negotiations and re-negotiations on existing and new contracts in order to meet targeted savings/avoidance with best commercial terms possible; and ensure the technical & commercial agreements are captured, minimize risks and with adequate protection
  • Perform and provide market research, pricing benchmarks and analysis for the commodities/categories assigned as well as the vendor market in supporting the relevant Category Manager.
  • Conduct periodical reporting on savings update and project deliverables for management review
  • Undertake any tasks or projects been assigned accordingly by manager

Your Merits:

  • 8+ years experience in managing procurement activities in the marketing/commercial and indirect categories in the telecommunications or IT industry (added advantage)
  • Adept in procurement, crafting strategies and executing projects in an MNC or public listed company in Malaysia
  • Versed in working in a collaborative environment where several key stakeholders are located regionally & globally
  • Tertiary education in any discipline of procurement
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including developing negotiation strategies
  • Passionate about improving and developing yourself in the area of sourcing, contracting, negotiating, vendor management and stakeholder management
  • Application of procurement best practices and supplier negotiation at executive level
  • Team player with good working conduct and ethics coupled with ability to manage pressure
  • Possess strategic perspective and able to discuss and advice technology stakeholder on carrying out strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Able to work effectively with middle to high management and in the supplier’s organization to identify and execute these strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Able to lead high spend projects, guide team members and contribute where required at the program level
  • Analytically-minded with extensive understanding of contract terms and conditions (including their commercial and legal implications)
  • Proven ability to communicate and present arguments at all levels of management and external parties in a way that achieves buy-in and alignment on valid positions
