DiGi and Microsoft offer Malaysia's only integrated Instant Messaging mobile service
DiGi subscribers to enjoy Windows Live Messenger services

SHAH ALAM, 16 March 2009: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") and Microsoft have started offering Windows Live Messenger (IM) to DiGi subscribers with a free two-month trial starting today.

DiGi subscribers can now enjoy chatting with their family and friends via IM. They can access the service via mobile phones apart from desktop PCs, smartphones and PDAs.

Customers would also have unlimited chat services for free as part of a promotion over the next two months. They only need to pay a nominal flat rate of RM3 per month with no additional charges after the free trial period. All they have to do is SMS "MSN" to 2016 and follow the instructions on the screen.

Dushyan Vaithiyanathan, DiGi's Head of Consumer Marketing, said: "Out of 26 million mobile subscribers in Malaysia, over half a million are regular Mobile Internet users. Through innovation, our customers have been enjoying rich mobile experiences at best value. We are confident we can generate even more data traffic as our customers can now have full integrated IM mobile experience."

He added: "Our customers can connect to their buddy list of contacts and share interesting aspects of their lives the moment it happens. They can pass on where the coolest places are or share their thrilling experience at a concert."

"Windows Live has enabled millions of people to keep connected no matter where they are," said Chris Chandler, Head of Mobile, Microsoft Online Services Group, Southeast Asia. "For less than the price of a Mee Goreng, Windows Live Messenger on DiGi allows users to stay in touch with friends and family in meetings, on the bus, in the library, or anywhere at all."

Provided by Sybase 365, Microsoft's reselling partner in Southeast Asia, this mobile version of Windows Live Messenger services have the same look and feel as the PC version. It translates into a pleasant seamless user experience for regular IM users.

Subscribers are notified when a buddy signs in or a message is received. They can enjoy other features like the ability to organise buddies in groups and utilise emoticons to better express themselves in IM chats.

DiGi subscribers will enjoy a free two-month trial if they sign up anytime from 16 March to 16 May 2009. Find out more about Windows Live Messenger on DiGi at www.digi.com.my/msn.
