Digi calls on passionate youths to attend Telenor Youth Forum in Norway
Searches for two young opinion leaders to lend their voices to transform society through digital connectivity

SHAH ALAM, 7 August 2015 - Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) today announced its Telenor Youth Forum 2015 (TYF2015) competition. The company is searching for two inspiring youths to participate and represent Malaysia in a global dialogue that aims to transform societies and build a better digital future for all through easy and equal access to knowledge.

TYF2015 will gather young opinion leaders from 13 countries across Asia and Europe in Oslo, Norway on 8-11 December 2015, and empower them to share their perspectives on the topic of 'Knowledge for All'.

Quah Yean Nie, Digi's Head of Communications and Sustainability said, "We believe our young internet generation is uniquely positioned to predict and advise on how to build a better digital future for all. They clearly understand that access to knowledge empowers learning and literacy that are fundamental to create sustainable growth and development opportunities for society, and that mobile internet is a key enabler of this reality. With TYF2015, we are challenging youths to unearth interesting insights on how enabling internet for all impacts people, learning and society at large to help shape the future of their countries."

During TYF2015, participants will address questions such as: How will access to information and knowledge impact people, business and communities, and in what ways will societies transform when knowledge becomes available to all? What role does technology play in bringing knowledge for all, and are there really limits to what technology can achieve?

In 2014, two young Malaysians - Christine Cheah and Yong Wei Shian represented Malaysia at this event. 25-year-old news reporter Christine won for her mobile app idea to connect cancer patients via a virtual support group, inspired by her late mother's own experience as a cancer patient. Wei Shian, 21, a pharmacy student, shared an idea that addresses the issue of food wastage using the mobile platform to facilitate food transfers between restaurants, bakeries and hotels to soup kitchens and NGOs who provide food for the needy.

TYF2015 is open to youths aged 18 to 28 years old, with fresh perspectives and strong opinions on the topic of internet and knowledge. Coinciding with the Nobel Peace Prize event, the competition offers youth a global stage for their voices, and opportunities to meet and discuss with leaders and experts within these fields - and a social and professional experience of a lifetime.
