DiGi continues to solidify its mobile internet market presence
Exciting mobile phone service offerings and aggressive expansion plans underway

SHAH ALAM, 9 DECEMBER 2010: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd further strengthens its position as a serious player in the mobile internet market by introducing a new range of DiGi Internet offerings that include an additional Smart Plan for smartphones, phone bundling packages and DiGi Blackberry Prepaid packages. These are in line with the aggressive expansion plan of its Turbo 3G™ network to more market areas nationwide.

DiGi's new affordable Smart Plan Lite caters especially for customers who are casual data users. They only need to pay a monthly fee of RM33 to enjoy Internet access up to 300MB with no monthly call usage commitment, which means they will only be charged on a Pay-As-You-Use basis for voice calls and SMS. Customers will also get to enjoy 25% discounts and 100% discounts off the RM33 monthly fee if their total usage is more than RM100 or RM200 respectively within the billing month.

Customers can now choose from a wider range of smartphones that are bundled with DiGi Smart Plan packages. The highly anticipated Android mobile phone, the HTC Desire HD (operator exclusive to DiGi) and HTC Mozart 7, touted to be the best Windows Mobile 7 device are now available at selected DiGi Centres nationwide.

For those who are looking for simpler BlackBerry prepaid plans, DiGi is offering three new attractive packages to supplement the existing DiGi Blackberry Unlimited plan at RM2 per day. They are Social + IM for unlimited access to social media applications (Facebook and Twitter as well as instant messaging) for only RM1 per day; E-mail + IM for unlimited access to messaging clients (e-mail and instant messaging) also for RM1 per day; and BBM package that offers users unlimited access to the Blackberry Messenger application for only RM0.50 per day.

According to Loh Keh Jiat, DiGi's Head of Product Marketing, these new offerings are proof points of DiGi's commitment to make mobile internet services relevant and affordable to all, especially to casual data users. "We will continue to focus on delivering quality and best value services that suit the different needs of the market while ensuring our Turbo 3G™ presence becomes more prevalent nationwide.

"DiGi has to date covered over 42% of the country's population. With the latest expansion of our Turbo 3G™ network to more than 12 new key market areas within the country including East Malaysia, DiGi is on track to reach our target of 50% total population coverage by the end of this year."

As of this year, new DiGi Turbo 3G™ market areas include Alor Setar, Kulim and Sg.Petani in Kedah; Taiping and Kampar in Perak; Butterworth in Penang; Kuantan, Pahang; Melaka ; Batu Pahat, Johor Baharu; Kota Bharu, Kelantan; Miri, Sarawak and Lahad Datu, Sabah.

With the launch of DiGi Turbo 3G™ in Melaka, Sg Petani and Lahad Datu, customers in these new areas will now have access to broadband plans for both light and heavy data usage, that offer better speed for as low as RM38 per month with a FREE modem.

Customers can also sign up for mobile internet packages for as low as RM68 per month on DiGi Postpaid or RM3 a day on DiGi Prepaid.
