Digi Extends Music Freedom Free Trial, Adds Streaming Partners

Samsung Milk Music and MixRadio join the growing list of music streaming partners

SHAH ALAM, 29 September 2015 - Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("Digi") is extending the free trial period for Digi Music Freedom until the end of the year. Customers who activate their music passes from now until 31 December will get 120 days of music streaming for free. Existing subscribers whose current free trial ends before the end of the year will also be able to benefit from this and enjoy a further 120 days for free.

The Digi Music Freedom pass allows subscribers to stream music from the world's most popular services that they are already using and not worry about incurring internet charges. It brings the newest and most inspiring entertainment content along with the latest digital service innovations from global partners. Once subscribed, customers can enjoy streaming their favourite music on their smart devices with zero internet charges.

Along with this announcement, Digi also revealed two new music streaming services that have been added to the growing list of partners: Samsung Milk Music and MixRadio. Not to be confused with Astro's MIX fm, MixRadio is a personalised music streaming service now owned by popular Japan-based mobile messaging service LINE.

These new partners join existing music streaming services such as TIDAL, Guvera, JOOX, Spotify, KKBOX, Deezer, Rdio, Hitz.fm, Era.fm, My.fm, MIX fm, LiteFM, SINAR fm, MELODY FM, THR Gegar, THR Raaga, SoundHound, BE-AT.TV and Q.us.

"These new partnerships clearly underline Digi's determination to look for opportunities to partner with more top music discovery and streaming service providers who bring the biggest song catalogues and widest variety of content to our customers. This announcement is perfectly timed as we are also announcing the extension of our free trial period for Digi Music Freedom - our offering that allows customers to enjoy their favourite music worry-free with zero internet charges," said Praveen Rajan, Digi's Head of Postpaid & Digital Services.

"In recent years, there has been a growing demand for on-demand entertainment and many consumers, especially the young generation, prefer to have their entertainment "on the go" as and when, and where they want it. On the local front, Samsung understands this trend and caters to this demand by offering users a new radio service that offers an intuitive and effortless way to enjoy music. Samsung Milk Music allows users to discover fresh hits, re-discover old favourites, and fine-tune their favourite stations with only the turn of a dial. As a partner of Digi Music Freedom, our collaboration with Digi will not only offer Malaysians and exclusive Samsung users the platform and freedom to stream quality music, but also set the tone and standards in the music streaming market," said Lee Jui Siang, Vice President of Mobile, IT & Digital Imaging, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

Jamie Robertson, GM for MixRadio APAC, comments, "MixRadio is committed to bringing music fans the very best free music streaming experience available. In addition to already being available to download for free for Android and iOS, this exciting new partnership with Digi will allow us to bring our catalogue of over 23 million tracks to even more consumers. Music fans in Malaysia will be able to access the best in local and international tracks, plus expertly curated playlists and music streaming personalised to their unique taste".
