Digi fully supports minister's call for affordable Internet
New plans and bundles underline commitment to bring Internet for All Malaysians

JSHAH ALAM, 22 May 2015- Digi is fully supportive of the Government's call for more affordable broadband Internet plans for all Malaysians and has announced a number of packages and product bundles that caters to price-conscious customers.

The availability of these new affordable bundles, which includes new tablet computers for RM299 and smartphones for RM79, highlights Digi's commitment to lowering the barrier of entry and bringing the Internet to more Malaysians.

"Digi is known for bringing affordable product and services to Malaysians. The entry level broadband packages that we have start from RM25 for both prepaid and postpaid. In fact, if you're a postpaid customer you can even get one gigabyte of data for as low as RM20 as part of our ongoing online promotion," said Eugene Teh, Digi's chief corporate affairs officer."

These new offerings follow a recent call by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Shabery Cheek for telcos to offer more affordable Internet packages to Malaysians.

"Bringing affordable Internet access to all Malaysians is our top priority as articulated in our Internet for All strategy. We will continue to support the national agenda to increase broadband coverage by bringing top quality and high value offerings to all Malaysians with a sharp focus on price-sensitive customers," he added

Along with this, Digi has also been upgrading its network to better support its customers and bring a consistent web experience. "We just announced the availability of our LTE coverage for the Klang Valley where we now cover 79% of populated areas in the region. This is more than double our coverage here since a year ago," Teh said.

Currently, Digi's 3G coverage covers 87% of populated areas nationwide while 4G LTE reaches 33% of populated areas throughout Malaysia.
