DiGi introduces Malaysia's lowest mobile IDD rates

Telco welcomes the Year of the Rooster with "As Low as Local Rates"

Kuala Lumpur, 3 February 2005 - In understanding the need to stay connected during this special season, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd has revealed new, ground-breaking IDD rates for all customers who wish to call friends and families overseas.

From 3 February 2005 till 31 March 2005, all DiGi customers can keep in touch with their loved ones in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Phillipnes, Pakistan, Myanmar and Nepal with "As Low As Local Rates".

With this promotion, calls to China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA will only cost RM0.48 per minute, and calls to Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Philippines and Pakistan only costs RM0.88; while calls to Myanmar and Nepal will cost only RM1.28.

"Now, more than ever, we realize that our customers have a need to stay connected with their friends and family who might be anywhere in the world at anytime at all. With this, we are pleased to allow our customers the flexibility to make IDD calls directly from their mobile phones at charges that are as low as local rates," said Mr. Peter Tay, General Manager for Marketing of DiGi.

The promotional rates are applicable to all IDD calls originating from all DiGi customers within Malaysia. For DiGi postpaid customers, the rates are also applicable when receiving calls from Malaysia while roaming in the stated countries, with a surcharge of 10%.

There will no differentiation of peak or off peak rates for all calls to these selected IDD countries during the promotion. All DiGi postpaid and prepaid customers who want to enjoy this promotion need not activate or register as they will automatically qualify.
