DiGi Music LIVE rocks on with indie music
Sounds Unite showcases in Johor & Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 NOVEMBER 2009: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi"), along with Laguna Music, will be presenting a strong line-up of top local indie bands at exclusive showcases under the banner, "Sounds Unite", in Kota Kinabalu (5 December) and Johor Bahru (13 December).

"Sounds Unite" is part of the DiGi Music LIVE event series to showcase local talents in the independent music scene. Exclusive to DiGi Music Unlimited subscribers for free, the showcases will feature six local bands, namely One Buck Short, Bittersweet, Purevibracion, SevenCollar T-shirt, They Will Kill Us All and Prana.

On the reasons behind "Sounds Unite", DiGi's Head of Segments, Koay Chee Keong, explained: "The indie scene in Malaysia is slowly gaining traction and recognition in Malaysia and abroad. To aid the growth of local indie bands, we are providing a platform for them to promote their unique sound via the DiGi Music portal.

"Apart from offering digital downloads of their songs, caller tunes and ringtones from DiGi Music; we are showcasing their talents to a wider base of music lovers through Sounds Unite. This is just our way to provide tangible support to the local indie bands."

Jeremy Little, General Manager of Laguna Music added: "There is a vast pool of local talent in Malaysia and they need all the help they can get to make it in the tough music industry. Thanks to DiGi, we can now further showcase these unsung heroes while still retaining their individuality through music."

All six indie bands will be performing at Dewan Foo Chow in Kota Kinabalu (5 December) and C.T Cafe & Sports Arena in Johor Bahru (13 December). Local acts based in the respective locations like 3rd Dice, WORM and Donatello are invited to join the showcase line-up as a means to profile the local musicians.
