  • Affordable enterprise-grade level of security protection catered for SMEs and micro businesses

Subang Jaya, 21 October 2020 – Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) has deployed cloud-based cybersecurity solution, Cisco Umbrella for its micro, small and medium enterprise (SME) customers, providing essential protection that enables businesses to connect securely on Digi’s network.

In collaboration with world-leading cybersecurity firm, Cisco, Digi takes the lead in helping SMEs secure their businesses with Domain Name System or DNS-layer security. Cisco Umbrella protects customers by blocking requests to malware, ransomware, phishing, botnets and more before a connection is even established, effectively stopping threats before they reach the network or endpoints.

As a cloud service, there is no complicated on-device installation process involved, so businesses can protect all their devices – be it laptops, desktops or smart devices – as long as they’re connected to the internet on Digi’s network.

Digi’s Chief Business Officer, Eugene Teh says that as a trusted digital partner to SMEs, the company is committed to assist SMEs on various aspects of digitalisation, and that includes providing quality and secure network as well as protecting businesses as they increasingly go digital.

“Connectivity is a fundamental need for businesses these days with many SMEs digitalising and moving businesses online, but it comes with a risk of cyberattacks, especially on mobile devices which usually does not have any security protection yet they’re widely used to access company data and assets. What we are offering today with Cisco addresses this critical need to protect SMEs with essential cybersecurity solutions to safeguard their business,” adds Eugene.

Echoing Eugene, Cisco’s Managing Director, Cybersecurity Sales, APJC, Kerry Singleton says, “Today, secure Internet access with low touch is necessary to all businesses. It is an indispensable, vital element of an SME or micro business’s operations. With Cisco Umbrella, we can help these companies connect to the Internet with confidence from any device, any location and provide the users with highly effective cybersecurity protection.”

Convenient and affordable cybersecurity solution
No on-device installation required means that you do not need to install any software or apps on your devices, or having to constantly update security patches to stay protected. Cisco Umbrella allows users to connect securely on Digi’s network via mobile broadband from any device, anywhere.

Digi offers business customers high-speed mobile broadband through a range of Go Digi WiFi plans which can be found from this link https://www.digi.com.my/business/plans/business-broadband.

Currently, Digi has rolled out the solution to about 30,000 pilot users, and will continue to make available the security feature for more users in phases.

This robust security solution is offered at only RM3 per month. Customers can choose to unsubscribe at any time by contacting Digi Business’ customer service at 016-299 8888 or email bsc@digi.com.my.

Cyber threats on the rise
SMEs and micro businesses have increasingly turned to the internet and digital tools to operate. This makes them more susceptible to cyberattacks as they navigate the internet sphere, with hackers targeting smaller companies that may not have levels of cybersecurity that larger enterprises have in place.

Citing data from CyberSecurity Malaysia, during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, cybersecurity cases spiked by 82.5%; while a recent CGA Report stated that globally 1 in 3 reported breaches could have been prevented by DNS-layer security.

Protection by world’s top DNS-layer security
Cisco Umbrella resolves over 200 billion DNS requests daily, from over 20,000 customers, across 190+ countries. This threat intelligence is combined with the massive data from Cisco Talos, the world’s largest non-governmental threat research organisation that analyses malware and blocks threats at an extensive scale. The scale and scope of threat intelligence is an important differentiator – because one can only protect what one can see, and Cisco – Umbrella and Talos – sees more threats, more malware, more attacks than any other security vendor in the world. That delivers extraordinary efficacy. Recent independent security efficacy testing from AV-TEST found Cisco Umbrella #1 in security efficacy as compared to its top competitors.
