DiGi Street Blast sets youth in motion
Street festival promises a day of revelry for the youth

SHAH ALAM, 13 November 2006: DiGi Street Blast will hit the streets of Kuching, Penang and Kuala Lumpur starting this month with an explosive combination of music, dance, sports and fashion in a street festival specially tailored for the youth.

Spearheaded by DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi"), Street Blast is scheduled to debut on 25 November at Travillion Kuching, bringing 12 hours of non-stop wholesome entertainment and exciting on-ground activities featuring a flea market, extreme games, treasure hunt, dance competitions, fashion shows and music performances by local bands and artists.

Street Blast will then take over Upper Penang Street in Penang on December 2, and conclude in Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Bintang (in front of Low Yat Plaza) on December 9.

Nikki Lee, DiGi's Head of Youth Segment Marketing said, "The youth have been DiGi's main supporters and we are constantly looking at ways to engage them in activities and projects. The Street Blast is a one-of-a-kind street festival that not only brings the youth together but also invites active participation through competitions and games; the flea market meanwhile gives them an opportunity to market their creative wares."

There will be competitions aplenty for the young and talented to showcase their ability at the Street Blast.

For those with a flair for design, DiGi's "Creative T-Shirt Design Competition" held in collaboration with urban fashion label Radioactive, will offer them an opportunity to showcase their artistic skills. Participants may submit their designs via MMS or JPEGs to digicontest@gmail.com. The winner in each location will have their designs printed on a Radioactive branded t-shirt and sold in stores nationwide.

One of the highlights of the Street Blast is the music performances. International artistes Gary Chow and Lin Yu Zhong as well as local bands and artists like Disagree, Pop Shuvit, OAG, Liang, Plothrown, 6ixth Sense and DJs Jungle Jerry, Ray Soo and Anatta will take visitors on an exciting musical trip. As a bonus, DiGi's Celebriteens will share the limelight as they represent the youth in the star-studded line-up, while the cast of local hit sci-fi Series Ejen 016 will make a special appearance at the festival to meet and greet fans.

For those looking to put their vocal abilities or their dance moves to the test, they can participate in the "Music Face Off" competition as well as the Shuffle Dance and B Boyz Dance competitions.

Sports and games enthusiasts will not be left out as there will be many mini-tournaments planned for the day. Team sports comprise futsal, basketball, and paintball while individual sports include X-Games, mountain-scaling, obstacle courses, dunking machine, Bungee Run, Titanic Slide, and Sumo Wrestler.

Street Blast is one of the few youth-focused events that brings together the involvement of the youth, especially students from selected colleges.

"When we were conceptualising the Street Blast, we realised that the youths would know what they enjoy best. So, who better to partner than the youths themselves? The youths provided support by contributing ideas on the activities and helping to promote the festival," Lee said.
