Opportunity for two Malaysian youths to witness 2014 Nobel Peace Prize event

  • Winners Malala Yousafzai and Kailah Satyarthi apt role models for aspiring youth
  • Two will represent Malaysia at Telenor Youth Summit, held in conjunction with the Peace Prize Event


Shah Alam, 14 October 2014 - Through its Telenor Youth Summit challenge, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DiGi”) is offering two (2) lucky Malaysian youths a once in a lifetime experience to be a part of the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. This highly anticipated event will see the recognition of two high-profile children rights activitists, Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi for championing young people’s rights to education and protection from exploitation.

Malala, the youngest Nobel Peace award recipient in history is a global inspiration to many for her passion and determination to fight for her beliefs. The Telenor Youth Summit will give young Malaysians the unique opportunity to participate in this esteemed event and be inspired to make a difference if they put their hearts and minds to it.”

As local winners of the Telenor Youth Summit challenge, two youths will represent Malaysia at the Summit in Oslo, Norway on 9-11 December 2014. They will get to exchange ideas on a global platform with their peers, experts and thought leaders, in addition to participating in the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, and other related events including the CNN interview of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and the Nobel Prize Concert.

The challenge has received encouraging response to-date from our talented youths. We are seeing many inspiring ideas and initiatives using digital communication for the betterment of society. We believe there are more exceptional ideas out there, and are excited to extend the submissions deadline to 29 October 2014 so more youths can participate to make a difference and win this once in a lifetime experience," he added.

The Telenor Youth Summit is a global youth platform exploring the transformative power of mobile and digital communications. The Summit gathers 18-25 year olds who are passionate about social, economic or environmental change, and currently working on an initiative or have an innovative idea using digital communication to make our future better.
