The fraudster typically uses various tactics to gain your personal information such as banking details. Some of them include:

  • Intimidation (by pretending to be someone from legal enforcement).
  • Presenting attractive limited-time offers.
  • Impersonating as someone you might know.

Callers who claim to be from local authorities, legal enforcement agencies, banks or telemarketing services.

 

How to respond?

Do not share OTP.
Do not believe promises that are too good to be true, especially from strangers.
Refer to authorised Digi retail stores, dealers or contact centres to validate any latest Digi promotions.
Call your banks or local legal enforcements and validate the information given by suspected scammers.
Do not share any personal information.
Report to your mobile operator and provide them with details of the number from which you received a call.

SCAM CALL / VISHING #1

Mr. Sam calls you from your bank and claims that you’ve made an RM3,000 online transaction. And he needs your details to verify it.

But you’ve not done any banking today.

All you have to do is provide your OTP that will be sent by your bank via sms shortly.
