Novel twist to rewarding enabled Digi customers to participate in empowering women with a contribution to the Women's Aid Organisation (WAO) from only RM1

SHAH ALAM, 6 APRIL 2018 - For Women's Day on March 8th 2018, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) leveraged on MyDigi Rewards to offer its customers a meaningful platform to do good and realise the full potential of women in nation building. Themed 'Make a Difference', the Women's Day campaign ran from 5th to 11th March 2018 in a special partnership with online beauty shop Hermo. Customers could purchase 10% discount vouchers applicable at Hermo from MyDigi Rewards on the MyDigi app, with all proceeds directed to the Women's Aid Organisation (WAO).

The collection contributed by Digi together with Hermo and partners to the Women's Aid Organisation will support WAO in its mission to promote and create respect, protection and fulfillment of equal rights for women.

"The MyDigi Rewards Women's Day campaign is special to us as it is the first Rewards campaign that enabled us to partner up with Hermo and their partners to not only celebrate the women who have persevered and overcome life challenges but also to empower other women with the help of WAO. We are looking forward to running similar MyDigi Rewards campaigns in the future, as a way for us to not only reward our customers but also connect them to meaningful platforms where they can actively play a role in giving back to society," said How Lih Ren, Digi's Head of iTelco.

The campaign concluded with an inspirational talk by TV host, author and motivational speaker Xandria Ooi on her vision of a gender equal workplace and how the barriers of gender stereotyping can be overcome. This was folllowed by a panel discussion on "Gender Equality in the Workplace" moderated by Low Ngai Yuen, a local celebrity and women's rights activist with panellists Meera Samanther, Vice President of WAO (Women's Aid Organisation); Seema Viswanathan Editor in Chief of Blu Inc Media; Sulaxmi Prasad, HR Expert of Digi and Ann Wee Li Tza, a victim of unfair dismissal at workplace from WAO. Gender equality, especially in the workplace remains a central point of discussion between not only the panelists but around the world as more and more women who are working within public corporations have disclosed the disparity in monetary remuneration meted out to them, despite performing a task equal to that of their male counterparts.

On Sunday 8th April 2018, Hermo and their partners will host a makeover session for 30 domestic violence survivors who are living at WAO shelter homes with a complete hair and makeup makeover for a photo shoot to serve as a keepsake and reminder of their value within society. Arts and crafts activities for their children will also be held on the same day.
